Back Up To Go Ahead

One day I took a drive in the mountains outside of Denver. When I wanted to head back to town, I turned onto a road that went down the mountain. But it wasn't long before it changed direction, started to climb, and led away from town. So I had to shift into reverse, turn the car around, and go back to where I had made the wrong turn.

As followers of Christ, we sometimes do or say something that takes us off the path of faithful obedience to Jesus. It may be an angry argument when we shout harsh, hateful words. Or we may make a deliberate choice to disobey the Lord. Then we are offtrack, frustrated, and driftin farther and farther from Him. Before we can progress spiritually, we must confess our sin and then do what is right.

It was verv difficult for David to admit that he had taken a wrong turn. But psalm 32 tells us that he did. He went back to admit his sins, confessed them before the Lord, and experienced His forgiveness. Then he was able to press for ward with a cleansed heart.

Are you headed in the wrong direction? Is there unconfessed sin that is keeping you from moving forward? If so, back up to go ahead. Dce

O Lord, return to me Your power
That once by grace i knew;
Forgive the sin that grieved Your heart.
And help me to be true (Anon)

YOU CAN'T PUT YOUR SINS BEHIND YOU UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO FACE THEM
