The first mobile telephone using Google's Android software has been unveiled.
The T-Mobile G1 handset will be available in the UK in time for Christmas.
The first device to run the search giant's operating system will feature a touch screen as well as a Qwerty keyboard.
It will be available for free on T-Mobile tariffs of over £40 a month and includes unlimited net browsing.
Other features include a three megapixel camera, a 'one click' contextual search and a browser that users can zoom in on by tapping the screen.
The handset will be wi-fi and 3G enabled and has built-in support for YouTube.
Users will also have access the so-called Android Market, where they will be able to download a variety of applications.
The T-Mobile G1 is the first phone to use Android
Prototypes
Google announced its plans for the Android phone software in November 2007 with a declared aim of making it easier to get at the web while on the move.
To help develop Android, Google also unveiled the Open Handset Alliance - a partnership of more than 30 firms that would work to make phone software easier to work with.
The group includes operators such as Telefonica, handset makers such as HTC and Motorola as well as chip makers such as Intel and Qualcomm.
Many of the partners demonstrated early prototype Android phones at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona in mid-February.
The idea behind Android is to do for phone software what the open source Linux software has done for PCs. Developers of phone software can get at most of the core elements of the Android software to help them write better applications.
Smartphones
However, in launching Android, Google faces stiff competition from established players such as Nokia with its Symbian software and Microsoft with its Mobile operating system.
More recently Apple has been gaining customers with its much hyped iPhone.
The Android software is squarely aimed at the smartphone segment of the handset market which adds sophisticated functions to the basic calling and texting capabilities of most phones.
Current estimates suggest that only 12-13% of the all handsets can be considered smartphones.

Reconfigure your Windows 2000 DNS server to forward requests
Takeaway: Get Windows 2000 DNS server to forward requests
You know how DNS is supposed to work: You type in http://www.techproguild.com on your workstation’s browser, your DNS server resolves the name into an IP address, and then your workstation’s browser connects to the page at that address and displays the page. So, after you go to the trouble of setting up Windows 2000, Active Directory, and Windows 2000’s DNS server, why would you be unable to resolve any addresses for resources outside of your local network?
This problem occurs because Windows 2000 can sometimes configure its DNS server to act as a root server. As a root server, the DNS server will only resolve addresses that it contains. In this Daily Feature, I’ll show you why this happens and how to fix it.
Author’s note
In this article, I am only going to focus on making your Windows 2000 DNS server forward requests for addresses that it can’t resolve itself. I’m not going to go into deep detail about what DNS does in general or how to set up a Windows 2000 DNS server. For more information about DNS and Windows 2000, see the Daily Drill Down “Using the Windows 2000 DNS service.”
What’s the problem?
In a Windows 2000 environment, DNS fills two roles. First, Windows 2000’s DNS can provide traditional name resolution for clients on your network that need to access Internet resources. Secondly, Windows 2000’s DNS can provide access to Active Directory and network resources.
When you first install DNS and Active Directory on your network, Windows 2000’s Setup program can cause these two roles to come into conflict with each other. Setup can accidentally configure DNS to resolve Active Directory resources but not allow clients to access Internet-based DNS servers.
When Setup runs, it checks your network for other DNS servers. If it doesn’t find any, Setup assumes that it’s the only DNS server on the planet and sets itself up as a root server. By definition, root servers are authoritative. Basically, they are DNS know-it-alls that don’t require help from other DNS servers.
In a network that’s not connected to the Internet, having your main DNS server configured as a root server isn’t a problem. Because there aren’t any external addresses to worry about, the root server indeed knows all there is to know about addresses on your network. However, things become complicated when you finally connect your network to the Internet. At that point, your internal DNS server can’t know the address for every Internet resource, so it requires help from external DNS servers.
If Setup has configured your DNS server as a root server, the DNS server won’t look for help from external DNS servers. As a matter of fact, if you try to configure forwarders or root hints on a Windows 2000 DNS root server, it will outright refuse to accept the information.
Tearing it out by the root
So what do you do to allow your internal Windows 2000 DNS server to forward queries for addresses it doesn’t contain to other DNS servers? Fortunately, you can manually administer an attitude adjustment to your DNS server to make it realize that there are other DNS servers it should refer to, essentially removing the DNS server’s root server configuration.
To do so, click Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | DNS. This will start the DNS Management Console. Expand DNS Server object in the left pane. Expand the Forward Lookup Zones folder. Select the zone folder that is marked with a period (.), right click it, and select Delete.
If you’re using Active Directory Integrated Zones, the DNS MMC will display a dialog box informing you that when you delete the zone, the MMC will also delete the zone from Active Directory and any DNS server that references Active Directory. Click Yes to remove the zone from both Active Directory and the DNS server.
Setting up forwarders
After you restart your Windows server, you can then configure DNS to forward to other DNS servers. To do so, start the DNS MMC, right-click your DNS server, and select Properties. When the Properties window for the server appears, click the Forwarders tab. Select the Enable Forwarders check box.
If this check box is grayed out, then your DNS server is still configured as a root server. Recheck to make sure you’ve selected the proper DNS server and that you properly removed the root zone folder as mentioned above.
After you select the Enable Forwarders check box, enter the DNS servers you want to forward to in the IP address field. You’ll need to enter the IP address of each server one at a time, clicking Add after each one. When you have finished, click OK.
Going forward
Once you remove the DNS server’s root capability and configure forwarders on your DNS server, your workstations will be able to access both internal and external network resources. You can also save yourself the headache of entering multiple DNS addresses on client workstations. Just direct client requests to your Windows 2000 DNS server, and it will handle the requests as it sees fit.

Read old newspapers online
A new initiative to bring old newspapers that pre-date the digital age to the web has been launched by the search giant Google.
The company has partnered with around 100 newspapers to digitize them and make scanned copies available online.
This means users will see entire pages of the original paper as they were printed at the time.
"This is huge," said Google's Marissa Mayer. "We're branching into a new form of content."
The company's vice president of search products announced the new feature at the TechCrunch50 conference in San Francisco, a forum for start-up businesses pitching to venture capitalists and the technology industry.
In one part of the demonstration, Ms Mayer showed pages from the Rome News Tribune and called up a story covering an American moonwalk.
It showed the relevant story and other headlines, adverts and promotions of the day giving a sense of the times.
"The compelling part of the product for me is to get a sense of context and the importance of what else happened that day," said Ms Mayer.
'Turning point'
The company created a new algorithm for the archives that will jump right to a specific article in the paper with related articles from other papers displayed on the right hand side of the page.
The technology for scanning the archives is similar to that used for Google Books. It expands on a two year old effort by the firm to work with two major American newspapers, the New York Times and Washington Post, to index old papers in Google News Archive.
"This effort will enable us to help you find an even greater range of material from newspapers large and small," wrote Google product manager Punit Soni on the company blog.
"This effort is just the beginning. As we work with more and more publishers, we'll move closer towards our goal of making those billions of pages of newsprint from around the world searchable, discoverable and accessible online."
Google will run its AdSense advertising service as part of the programme with revenue being shared with publishers.
"We think this is really good for newspapers because we will bring online generations of contributions from different journalists as well as widen readership," said Ms Mayer.
The publisher of North America's oldest newspaper, with editions dating back to 1764, was in agreement.
Pierre Little of the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph told the Associated Press: "I believe this could be a turning point for the industry. This helps us unlock a bit of an asset that had just been sitting within the organisation."

Keep Walking For Your Health
Just to check this out......
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.
Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.
It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.
This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.
God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.
So, keep walking...

The Titanic's Last Hero
Chances are you have seen the Hollywood movie Titanic, which has been seen by more people around the world than any other movie in history. What most people do not know is that there was a godly Christian man on board the Titanic named John Harper....
John Harper was born to a pair of solid Christian parents on May 29th, 1872. It was on the last Sunday of March 1886, when he was 13 years old, that he received Jesus as the Lord of his life. He began to preach about four years later at the ripe old age of 17 years old by going down to the streets of his village and pouring out his soul for men to be reconciled to God.
As John Harper's life unfolded, one thing was apparentÑhe was consumed by the word of God. When asked by various ministers what his doctrine consisted of, he was known to reply, "The Word of God!" Soon, John Harper started his own church in September of 1896. (Now known as the Harper Memorial Church.) This church started with just 25 members, but had grown to over 500 members when he left 13 years later.
Ironically, John Harper almost drowned several times during his life. When he was two and a half years of age, he almost drowned when he fell into a well but was resuscitated by his mother. At the age of 26, he was swept out to sea by a reverse current and barely survived, and at thirty-two he faced death on a leaking ship in the Mediterranean. Perhaps God used these experiences to prepare this servant for what he faced next....
It was the night of April 14, 1912. The RMS Titanic sailed swiftly on the bitterly cold ocean waters heading unknowingly into the pages of history. On board this luxurious ocean liner were many rich and famous people. At the time of the ship's launch, it was the world's largest man-made moveable object. At 11:40 p.m. on that fateful night, an iceberg scraped the ship's starboard side, showering the decks with ice and ripping open six watertight compartments. The sea poured in. On board the ship was John Harper and his much-beloved six-year-old daughter, Nana. According to documented reports, as soon as it was apparent that the ship was going to sink, Harper immediately took his daughter to a lifeboat. It is reasonable to assume that this widowed preacher could have easily gotten on board this boat to safety; however, it never seems to have crossed his mind. He bent down and kissed his precious little girl; looking into her eyes he told her that she would see him again someday.
The flares going off in the dark sky above reflected the tears on his face as he turned and headed toward the crowd of desperate humanity on the sinking ocean liner. As the rear of the huge ship began to lurch upwards, it was reported that Harper was seen making his way up the deck yelling,
"Women, children and unsaved into the lifeboats!"
It was only minutes later that the Titanic began to rumble deep within. Most people thought it was an explosion; actually the ship was literally breaking in half. At this point, many people jumped off the decks and into the icy, dark waters below. John Harper was one of these people.
That night 1528 people went into the frigid waters. John Harper was seen swimming frantically to people in the water leading them to Jesus before the hypothermia became fatal. Mr. Harper swam up to one young man who had climbed up on a piece of debris. Harper asked him between breaths, "Are you saved?" The young man replied that he was not. Harper then tried to lead him to Christ only to have the young man who was near shock, reply no. John Harper then took off his life jacket and threw it to the man and said "Here then, you need this more than I do..." and swam away to other people. A few minutes later Harper swam back to the young man and succeeded in leading him to salvation. Of the 1528 people that went into the water that night, six were rescued by the lifeboats. One of them was this young man on the debris.
Four years later, at a survivors meeting, this young man stood up and in tears recounted how that after John Harper had led him to Christ, Harper had tried to swim back to help other people, yet because of the intense cold, had grown too weak to swim. His last words before going under in the frigid waters were, "Believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."
Does Hollywood remember this man? No! Oh well, it doesn't matter. This servant of God did what he had to do. While other people were trying to buy their way onto the lifeboats and selfishly trying to save their own lives, John Harper gave up his life so that others could be saved.
