Jerudong Park Relaunched!

'Haunted house' among new attractions for JP revival

Just when the public thought the days of the famed Jerudong Park Playground's (JPP) were numbered, the Board of Directors of the Jerudong Park and Country Club (JPCC) is now overseeing the biggest effort to spruce up the playground to woo back visitors.

The park, a once proud attraction of Brunei, is now a pale shadow of its former glory with the condition of the park said to be deteriorating.

But that is all set to change as a host of new attractions, including a 5D Theatre, a 30-foot slide, a Haunted House, a mini-golf course and a "mixstream" aerial obstacle course are making their way to Jerudong Park Playground.

The first phase of its total revamping effort is already completed and new rides and attractions are already open to the public, which include Single and Twin Seater Go-Karts, Electric Train, Electric Scooter, Solar-Powered Bumper Boats and Kids Bouncer as well as Carousel, Pedal Boats and Water Cycles, Jr Bumper Cars, Jr Skydiver, Jr Pirate Ship, Caterpillar, Shooting Gallery, Super Scooter and Musical Fountains.

JPP is now undergoing the second phase of its re-development which is scheduled for completion by this year. The third phase will include the 5D Theatre and Haunted House.

Mohd Kamal Hauzar bin Hj Sulaiman, Head of Operations, said he was happy to see the public coming back as the park opened with new attractions yesterday.

According to him, the management is revamping the whole area phase-by-phase with the hope of making the park popular again.

Whilhelm Albos Bayona, Sales Business Development Manager, said the current ticketing system is different from the previous one but they will always look into repackaging it from time to time, especially when all of the planned new attractions are in place.

He said there may be some problems in the ticketing system initially and it may look a bit confusing to some people but they will eventually "get the hang of it".
